Current Development Release Version is 2.0.5
As the work associated with the
Internet2 and NSF
Middleware Initiatives has progressed over the last few years,
in particular in the directory services arena, we have learned
that there are many people who wish to deploy enterprise class
directory services who seek assistance and validation to answer
the general question "Have I done this correctly?".
As human resources and expertise are limited in this field, we
have come to realize that a web based service needs to be
provided that would allow a directory service developer to
enter information about where her directory is on the network.
This service would then attempt to analyze that directory
remotely to see if it complies with the recommendations of the
NSF Middleware Initiative, specifically, the
LDAP-Recipe
and the
eduPerson
objectclass specification, and
Grid Laboratory Uniform Environment (GLUE).
This work was originally designed to be in
support of the Directory of Directories for Higher Education
but its utility goes well beyond that example application.
This service is intended to inspect schema and report on
anomalies, inspect attributes for compliance with the eduPerson
objectclass, and inspect operational characteristics of a
directory to determine things such as whether or not certain
critical attributes are properly indexed for searches.
Additionally, the LDAP Analyzer will attempt to verify specific
objectclass definitions associated with GRID computing and other
relevant research infrastructures being developed. (e.g. GLUE).
Development of this service was supported with funding
from Michigan Technological University, Internet2, and
the NSF Middleware Initiative (Cooperative Agreement
No. ANI-0123937).
